Amercian Legion Mid-Winter Conference 2011

Two members from the our Unit Auxiliary attended the Mid-Winter Conference in Albany Jan. 21st & 22nd. One member from the American Legion Riders also attended. This is the 1st time that a member other than an auxiliary member from our post attended!! Hopefully next year we will have members from the Legion, SAL, ALA and the ALR attend.
I just wanted to share with you that we had an awsome speaker this year for the Auxiliary meeting....

This is Donald Whitehead and he shared his story with us.

Donald was a HOMELESS VETERAN!

Now Donald is a Motivational Speaker in Washington DC and is NO LONGER A HOMELESS VETERAN! He said the main thing that helped him.... was that someone said "I'M GLAD YOUR HERE"! He said that he will never forget those words!

His story was truly a sad one, but it was also very inspirational and it really reminded me of why we are here and why we do what we do....

WE ARE HERE AND HELP OUR VETERANS!!!!!!!!

I know that is why I joined :)
